Our President is:
Jem Rowland
Jem is a native of Swansea and began his caving in Gower. He first caved
with SWCC in 1963 and became a member in 1966, just after the discovery
of Dan yr Ogof II and just before the discovery of Ogof Ffynnon Ddu II.
He has caved in various places but has always preferred SWCC and the caves
of the Swansea Valley!
He has held various SWCC committee positions, including Chairman and
Secretary, and is a past Chairman of BCRA. He was closely involved in
establishing the OFD National Nature Reserve, at a time when OFD II was
threatened by quarrying, and subsequently was secretary of the OFD Cave
Management Committee for a number of years.
A fairly serious photographer, Jem is a Fellow of the Royal Photographic
Society, awarded for his cave photography. He is very proud to have been
elected President of SWCC and hopes to make a good job of it!
